Three Ways to Decorate with Vintage Flash Cards
Vintage flash cards are such a versatile design element. Maybe it’s because they’re small and easy to store. Maybe it’s the teacher in me that finds them so delightfully endearing. But I’m pretty obsessed with incorporating them into my decor. Today, I’m sharing three ways I’ve used them in my decorating:
Party Centerpiece
For my sweet Squish’s second birthday, I added a little fun to the table centerpiece by adding in a “boy” flash card to the mix. It seemed appropriate, celebrating a birthday milestone, officially moving away from baby- and toddler-hood and into boyhood.
Bunting or Garland
I love taking an entire set of flashcards and displaying them as bunting. Typically, I’ll use some twine or other kind of “firm” string mechanism, and I attach the flashcards via small clothespins. Sometimes I just throw them up there without any rhyme or reason. Other times, they’re thematic. But they add a sweet little whimsical touch either way.
Holiday or Seasonal Decor
I love utilizing vintage flash cards for thematic displays. I have several I use in spring vignettes (the blue bird is a favorite). I also use them in summer decorating as well. Not only do I choose them for thematic purposes, but I also love working them into an existing color scheme.
Do you have any vintage flash cards? I’d love to hear how you use them in the comments below.
Looks awesome and you definitely have the touch!
Thank you so much!
