Tablecloth Curtains: A Budget DIY
Anyone else want cute curtains without having to take out a second mortgage to afford them? Look no further than … the table cloth section at your favorite home store.
That’s right. If you don’t have much time to take on a big sewing project, beautiful curtains are at your finger tips if you’re willing to get a little creative.
When we added curtains to our huge banks of windows in our sun room and family room in 2021 (read about that project here), I opted for drop cloth simply because of the cost. For only $10 a panel, I was able to add a large number of curtains to our very open windows in those rooms to help a bit with the brutal afternoon sun. And they worked out beautifully!
I love decorating my home, but there are some things I just can’t stomach paying outrageous prices to have. And curtains are one of them. I also find it incredibly hard to find curtains in my “style.”
Enter my Target Threshold brand tablecloths. Each panel measures 60 inches by 84 inches, which were perfect for my low ceilings. I hung them to our budget curtain rod (electrical conduit spray painted black) via these Better Homes and Gardens curtain clip rings.
I happened to find these tablecloth curtains on a random Target clearance shelf for $14 a piece shortly after Christmas. I’m unable to find them online, but I did purchase these to use in the master bedroom and these to use in our formal living room.
While I love the style of the curtains, the mauve accent color was a bit of a departure from my normal. But ever since I’ve hung them, I can’t stop thinking about painting this room Glamour or Temperate Taupe by Sherwin Williams.
As is always the case around here, one design choice always begets another design choice. While interior paint is certainly on the agenda for 2023, painting the kitchen (which hasn’t seen a coat of paint since we moved in almost 13 years ago) is a more pressing project.
