DIY Christmas Tree Honeycomb Village
Looking for a fun, last-minute Christmas craft that gets the green light to remain up even after Christmas?
This DIY Christmas Tree Honeycomb Village checks off both boxes.
Start with paper colors of your choice. I went with more neutral options so that I could keep these up long after the Christmas decorations are packed up. For each tree, I chose two similar colors but different enough to add a little depth.
I cut patterns of varying sizes and traced them onto my papers. I found that folding the paper down the middle to create both the initial pattern cutting and during the pattern tracing gave me perfectly symmetrical trees.
I cut six tree parts for each tree, but mostly because my color options were limited. You could create much fuller, more “honeycomb-like” trees with more parts. You’ll want to glue each part to the part adjacent to it, being sure to fully coat each side. I used a glue stick for the project to avoid awkward glue oozing, but I suppose a variety of adhesives would work. My first attempt was with glue dots, which I found left awkward gaps between the parts.
Once all of your parts are glued together, pull the unglued side of the initial part around to meet the unglued side of the final part to complete the honeycomb design. You may find, if you’re a messy scissors handler like me, that you’ll need to trim up your tree a little bit so that each part perfectly meets its partner part.
With trees of a variety of sizes and colors, you’ll create the cutest little Christmas Tree village to sit atop of any table. I’m even considering featuring mine on my Christmas Eve table.
