BC Condo Reno: Kitchen Plan

We’ve officially crossed the halfway point at the BC Condo project! With our kitchen very nearly finished, I wanted to share our vision for the space with you all today, as well as a list of sources we are either planning to use or have already purchased.

Before

With a build date of 1984, and a space that had only been partially updated in that time, we knew the kitchen was going to eat up a large chunk of our budget and time. We really weren’t entirely sure what to do with this space until a chance encounter with some reclaimed granite countertop clarified the vision.

Again, just as with the bathroom, the goal was modern. As I’ve drafted the design during this process, I’ve always kept in mind a potential buyer: either a young, single professional or a very young family. I want to create a beautiful kitchen that serves its people well and with beauty.

Personally, I love a little worn and weathered, so it has been a fun creative challenge to design a space that is different from what I would probably have in my own home. It’s coming together so beautifully, and we can’t wait to see the look on potential buyers’ faces as they tour the space.

Vision

With the high contrast granite countertops, I knew I wanted to give this space lots of contrast. Light and dark, matte and shiny. I wanted green cabinets to anchor the space and sort of provide a blending point between the contrasting elements. As the kitchen comes together, I’m so in love.
