Another Renovation: The BC Condo
Last month, I shared that we purchased a sweet little lakeside cottage to renovate in our neighborhood. We knew going into it that it would be a few months before we got started because our first order of business is renovating the condo my husband owned before we got together.
Before Colleen (BC), my husband lived in a cute little 2/1.5 condo in the college town where we met. Its cute little fireplace and lush corner yard charmed me from the first moment I visited.
Built in 1984, my husband had updated portions of it at various times during his bachelor days. But as is the case with most everything in life, we got busy, and much of the “renovating” stopped before we eventually quit visiting the condo altogether. It’s been empty for several years now.
I’ve spent quite a bit of time frustrated that we haven’t had a chance to get to this renovation. Between all that we’ve had to do at our own little cottage, coupled with my husband’s busy, out-of-town work schedule, it just wasn’t really possible to devote the necessary time to the project.
BWith the housing market in its current state coupled with the explosive growth in the part of town where the condo is located, now is the perfect time to put the BC Condo front and center. Our tentative listing date is April 20.
There are so many parts of this condo that I absolutely love that we’re hoping will also appeal to a sweet little family or young professional.
This week, I plan to share our vision for the space in a series of blog posts. On the whole, here’s what we plan to do:
- Brand new paint throughout the condo (Sherwin Williams Alabaster)
- Lay new carpet upstairs and in the stairwell
- Painting bathroom vanity bases (Sherwin Williams Evergreen Fog) and replacing tops
- New flooring in the bathrooms
- New toilets in all of the bathrooms
- Finishing up the original laminate flooring that was started downstairs
- Painting the kitchen cabinets (Sherwin Williams Evergreen Fog) and replacing the countertops
- Updating the tile flooring at the entrance and on the window seat
- Updating appliances throughout
We also have a list of smaller items we will accomplish as well.
Much of the work done so far has been simply cleaning things out and removing old elements we plan to replace. This past weekend, I began painting, and I am just so excited for how much it’s already transforming the space.
Throughout this week, I’ll be sharing a look at the big renovation spaces in the condo and our plan for updating. I hope you’ll come back here for the blog series. Also be sure to check out our Instagram and Facebook stories, where we share behind-the-scenes looks at the renovation in progress.
