A Look Back at September
September was the most beautifully productive month at the cottage. As I kept shooting, editing, and saving pictures from the blog over the past month, I couldn’t get over just how much we had going on. This month was easily one of the busiest we’ve had.
Our first big project was ditching our green couch in the formal living room for a turn-of-the-century oak table. We figured this solution would guarantee more board games, puzzles and homework happening here versus on our kitchen table (which always needed such an intense clean-off before each meal). A month into this decision, it’s been one of my favorites. I wish we had done it sooner!
We also played a fun game of musical tables to find something more suitable to fit in the corner of our family room. This table replaces an ugly Facebook Marketplace find that I was unable to DIY my way into loving. While we were at it, we added another sweet little round table to sit beside my thrifted plaid chair because the plant stand that had been located beside it was just too awkwardly tall to function. Visually, these have made such a difference in the room.
We hauled everything out of our fall that we keep on-hand for fall to decorate. I used to be such a “just use nature to decorate” person in order to cut down on storage. But there are just too many beautiful vintage fall pretties out in the world to operate as a seasonal minimalist. But now that we’re all decorated for fall, it’s time to put a few spooky touches on the cottage for Halloween. Stay tuned!
And last, but certainly not least, we announced the launch of our pop-up shop in October to celebrate the season. I’ve been hard at work squeezing in time to sew every moment I get. I am such an early-to-bed person, but I’ve spent quite a few midnights here recently getting reacquainted with my sewing machine to bring you the most charming bunting featuring repurposed vintage linens. I haven’t shown it much online because I’ve wanted to keep the sweet element of surprise, but my studio is currently overrun by three huge 27-gallon totes carrying my curated collection (not to mention the huge pile of vintage art I have stored upstairs in my loft. You can find all of these beauties at the Crystal River Scarecrow Fest on Saturday, October 14, if you’re local. However, our local friends won’t be the only ones having all of the fun! Virtual followers, set your clocks for 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 8 as we launch a limited handmade and vintage collection to shop for your home.
Fall is my favorite season at the cottage, and I’ve shared quite a bit of what I’m loving and using for the season. Here are a few of the things we’re using and loving in the cottage.
