A Christmas Cottage Kitchen Tour

If you’ve followed along for more than a year, this year’s Christmas kitchen will probably look much like my previous kitchens, with just a few differences. I think it’s important to normalize reusing what we love and embracing pieces attached to tradition. Without further ado, I give you my 2023 Christmas Cottage Kitchen Tour.

Last year, I first discovered the joy of having a kitchen filled with Santas. Throughout the past few months, I’ve thrifted a few additional Santas, and each time, I envisioned them in my kitchen.

There are my blow molds, the ceramic Santa (that I sadly don’t have a light for), and all of my fun felt Santas up in the upper cabinets.

But perhaps my favorite find is the Santa planter filled with a legitimate mid-century faux bouquet. I just happened into one of the thrift stores that I don’t frequent very often, and he practically jumped into my cart as I rounded the first corner. Of course, I found so much treasure that day and have found very little there since.

With the exception of the new-to-me vintage chandelier over my sink, which I also snagged from the same place last week. More on this guy after Christmas.

I’ve shared before that the top shelves of my kitchen cabinets I usually reserve for decor because it’s much to high to use for everyday kitchen dishes. This year, I decided to relocate the cute little tray my mom and I made at a fundraiser at my husband’s alma mater. I thought it would make the perfect “focal” art. And I worked off that with all of my latest Santa finds.

I get asked pretty frequently online if our kitchen is more decorative than functional, and I’m here to say that I’ve tried to blend both.

We cook three meals a day here, and I’ve baked up a storm the past two months in this space. Sure it requires a bit more cleaning with open shelves, but I wouldn’t trade this kitchen, especially its Christmas iteration, for anything.

I’m actually hoping that this is the last time you see the kitchen this way because I am officially starting what I’m planning to be the last leg of the kitchen upgrade in January. Rob and I actually went backsplash shopping yesterday, and I think I’ve finally figured out what I’m going to do. I had paused making any further decisions until I made a decision about that. Look for that content coming in January!

On Friday, I’ll be giving you the rest of the kitchen tour as well as a full Christmas cottage tour. I can’t wait to show you our little cottage all dressed up for Christmas. Be sure to stop back by!
