12 Days of Creating: Day 10

On the tenth day of the 12 Days of Creating, I lovingly gave my home: display of vintage teacups and saucers.

Admittedly, this “project” seems kind of a stretch to even call a “project.” But any update to a space without spending money counts for my challenge, so here it is.

I bought these cute stoneware tea cups and saucers (along with a few bowls) a few years ago at Goodwill. I never quite knew what to do with them, so I shoved them in a cabinet in my dining room and forgot about them. When I converted my dining room into my library last year, I rediscovered them and thought they would make the perkiest little addition to our work-in-progress kitchen.

Are they an earth-shattering addition to the space? No. But they’re a visual reminder that the sweetest home touches are the small ones.

I could focus on the fact that my kitchen still has quite a ways to go to be “finished.” I still don’t have my butcher block countertops, my dishwasher is still wrapped in plastic, and I have a hole in my kitchen floor from where we moved a cabinet.

But I’ve spent way too much time being impatient about the timeline for those major fixes. I’m ready to be grateful for all of the progress we’ve made in here! I don’t even recognize this kitchen on most days.

These cute little guys represent embracing all of the tools in the arsenal to make our houses more cozy, even if they aren’t the big and extra impactful kind, and especially if they bring about change that is slow.

What goodies do you have tucked away that you could bring out of hiding to add a little cozy to a corner?

Cheers from the cottage,

Colleen
